Alyssa Kahle, Owner and Creative Director of Chicago’s bridal line Alyssa Kristin, started her love affair with sewing at the young age of four. She spent hours watching the upholstery seamstresses in her family’s furniture store and fashioned tiny treasures from fabric found in the scrape bins. Alyssa’s love for creating continued and at the age of 13 she made a bucket list; number 19 read, “Sew my own wedding dress.” On July 13, 2013, Alyssa checked number 19 off her list as she walked down the aisle in her first custom creation (the Alessandra gown).
Alyssa attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison; originally intending to study Textile and Apparel design, her need for quantitative challenges won and she traded in fabric for financial statements. Alyssa started her career in public accounting at Ernst & Young. It wasn’t until she became engaged that her childhood dreams resurfaced. Alyssa says she did what any rational bride would do: she found a less demanding job and decided to make her own dress. Creating her dress rekindled a passion for design she had trying to ignore during her time in the corporate world. From this reignited passion, the Alyssa Kristin bridal line was formed.
